Preparation of bulk samples for asbestos analysis

Please note the following in connection with the preparation and analysis of bulk samples for asbestos:

  • The ammendment of guideline VDI 3866, part 5, in draft state since 07/2015, recommends extended techniques for the preparation and analysis for several groups of building materials. These are ashing, milling or grinding, for example of floor pavements and putties.
  • Materials pretreated in such a way have to be analyzed as dispersed specimens with heightened analytical expense, similar to the analysis of dust samples (Order-No.: 111).
